Welcome: Good Morning and Welcome to Trinity Sunday here at Columbia Theological Seminary Scripture Reading: Our scripture text will be taken from Genesis the 1:1-4a KJV In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Sermon: #Living My Best Life

Image
#Living My Best Life I have a seven-year-old daughter and I drive her to and from school each day.   The journey is about half an hour each way and we like to use that as our bonding time, so we talk about everything during those rides.   During one of those talks she mentioned to me that there was something she wanted to do.   I wasn’t feeling it and let her know it won’t be happening, and that it was not appropriate for her.   She preceding to tell me that I was hindering her from Living Her Best Life. Where the problem lies with branding ...

I've been struck, during these Easter Cycle services, by how difficult it is--and how critical it is!--for the homilies to relate to one another, work with one another, complement one another. They can't all be the same, or in the same tone. Yet they need to have some commonality of structure and purpose. Your group did such a good job of that: each of you took a portion of the passion story and spoke directly to it, closing with that haunting liturgical refrain (which on Good Friday, holds special significance): "Oh Lord, have mercy on us." We heard those words in a completely new way because of the care your group took to fashion these homilies and place them next ...
